Parks is a division of the Galveston County Parks & Cultural Services Department and is committed to recreation, open spaces, natural resources, sustainability, and conservation.
Galveston County Parks & Cultural Services is under the direction of the Honorable Mark Henry, Galveston County Judge and the Commissioners of Galveston County: the Honorable Darrell Apffel, Commissioner, Precinct 1, the Honorable Joe Giusti, Commissioner, Precinct 2, the Honorable Stephen D. Holmes, Commissioner, Precinct 3 and the Honorable Ken Clark, Commissioner, Precinct 4.
Our team is lead by director, Julie Diaz, CPRP, CPO. Our team includes a hospitable and dedicated administrative staff, an advanced and innovative team of field specialists and several small crews who proudly operate, maintain and enhance Galveston County’s recreational parkland, public boat ramps, fishing piers, Bolivar beaches, community centers and rental facilities. Our parks team is also host to more than a half million residents and visitors each year attracted to a variety of events and activities happening in our parks and rental facilities.
County parks extend from League City, which is the northern area of Galveston County to Dickinson, Bacliff, San Leon, Bayview, Texas City, Hitchcock, Santa Fe, La Marque, to Galveston Island and across the ferry to our most south eastern neighbors, the Bolivar Peninsula on the Gulf of Mexico.
The Galveston County Parks System hosted more than 1,000 special events, including birthday parties, family reunions, weddings and graduation ceremonies.
Last year:
