Mobi-chair & Mobi-mat              

The Galveston County Parks Department offers a Mobi-chair & Mobi-mat at the Beach Pavilion on South Crystal Beach Road. The service guidelines are as follows: 

• Mobi-chairs available: 1
• Mobi-mat available: 1
• Hours: 9am - 3pm, daily
• RSVP: At least 24-hr. advance reservation required*, by calling 409-934- 8103.
• Time Limit: Maximum reservation is for 6 hours use.
• Mobi-chair & Mobi-mat use cost: Free
• Requirements: Must have a valid Driver's License and sign liability waiver.
• Upon arrival, please call 409-692-7283 and assistance will be provided.

*RSVP taken no earlier than 1 week in advance and no later than 24 hours before reservation date.

The undersigned parties must adhere to the following requirements of good conduct for safe operation of this unit:

ldemnification: Mobi-chair & Mobi-mat User and Attendant agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Galveston County, its appointed officers, employees, and agents (county) from and against any and all liability and expenses, including defense cost and legal fees, relating to User and Attendant's operations or services, which result from bodily injury, death, personal injury, or property damage (including damage to User and/or Attendant's property). User and Attendant shall not be obligated to indemnify for liability and expense arising from the active negligence of the County. 

• Mobi-chair & Mobi-mat User is required to have an Attendant present at all times while in use.
• Mobi-mat is not designed to go into the water and should not be allowed to get wet.
• Do not leave Mobi-chair or Mobi-mat unattended.
• Mobi-chair safety belt must be worn at all times.
• No running while pushing the Mobi-chair, regardless if occupied or not.
• Although the Mobi-Chair floats, it is not a boat. The sitting position is stable and you won't slip out of the Mobi-Chair under normal conditions of use. For instance, for safety reason, we recommend to avoid using the wheelchair in adverse weather and other poor conditions.
• The maximum limitation weight of the user is 150kg {approximately 330 pounds).
• The Mobi-Chair is not intended for areas with current or strong waves. You should only use the Mobi-chair in the water on green flag days. Consult

• To ensure that the Mobi-chair stays in good condition, the Mobi-chair should be rinsed with fresh water after you use it. The connecting plates and rods must be rinsed thoroughly to remove all sand, salt and dirt from the Mobi-chair. Failure to clean the connecting parts of the Mobi-chair may result in corrosion. Help us take care of it so that many more people will have access to the beach.
