All pesticides are registered through the EPA. All applicators are licensed through the Texas Department of Agriculture. Each spray unit is calibrated with a set amount that is defined by the pesticide label registered with the EPA. Flow rate is monitored when applicable.

Our trucks are currently spraying with Permethrin 31-67 and Malathion. Our airplane is spraying Dibrom and Pyrofos.

Adulticides

Fyfanon - Malathion

Malathion is a member of the organophosphate chemical family and is one of the least toxic pesticides in the group. Malathion is a cholinesterase inhibitor. Malathion by itself is not a strong cholinesterase inhibitor. It requires activation by conversion to its oxygen analog, malaoxon. Mosquitoes possess this enzyme. However, humans and other mammals possess a second enzyme which rapidly metabolizes malathion and malaoxon into non-active diacids. This make the chemical low-toxic to humans. Mosquitoes do not possess this second enzyme which makes it toxic to them. Malathion is widely used in agriculture; by commercial and industrial and institutional organizations; and in mosquito abatement programs. It breaks down rapidly in the environment and does not accumulate in soil, water, or air. It is one of the most widely tested of the pesticides. It is non-carcinogenic, non-teratogenic, and non-mutagenic.

Permethrin - 31-67

Permethrin is a low odor, non-corrosive synergized synthetic pyrethoid that has a quick knockdown. Permethrin is a popular pesticide that is used in many yard guards or outdoor sprays. Active ingredients include permethrin and a PBO.

Dibrom - Naled

Dibrom is an organophosphate insecticide used in aerial spraying. It works the same way as Malathion but has a faster knockdown. It doesn't have the same strong smell as malathion and it is put out at a lower rate. It’s an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, allowing over stimulation of the mosquito's nervous system. It degrades rapidly in the environment and has low toxicity to birds, humans, fish, and other non-target species.

Larvicides

Altosid - (S)-Methroprene

All Altosid formulations contain the Insect Growth Regulator, (s)-Methoprene, which interferes with a mosquito's normal metamorphosis. (S)-Methoprene in Altosid products has the industry's lowest toxicity rating. It naturally degrades in the environment and will not adversely affect humans, fish, waterfowl, mammals or beneficial insects.

AquaBaXT - Bacillus thuringiensis, var. israelensis (B.t.i.)

The larvae ingest the insecticide, consisting of Bti spores and crystalline toxins produced by the bacteria. Only when activated by the larva's specific gut PH and enzymes, do the crystals become toxic, causing damage to the gut of the mosquito. No side effects towards non-target organisms. Can be used in bird bathes and water troughs. Often mixed with Altosid Liquid Larvicide.
