Home MenuCommunity Service Restitution
Probationers are routinely court-ordered to provide community service restitution as a condition of probation supervision. Juveniles under deferred prosecution supervision are not required to perform community service. The number of hours each probationer is assigned to work is set by the court at the time of the disposition hearing. Generally, probationers work in seven hour increments. The bulk of the community service work is manual labor, primarily picking up trash on local government property, such as parks. Probationers work in small groups under the supervision of department staff members. All work is conducted when school is not in session. All community service sites must be approved by the Galveston County Juvenile Board.
