PSA re: 68A Inspections Galveston, Brazoria County

For those needing a VTR 68-A inspection on your vehicle, trailer, motorcycle, etc. we, at the Galveston County Auto Crimes Task Force, only perform these inspections for Galveston County and Brazoria County Residents. There are exceptions to that, if you reside in Webster, Seabrook, Friendswood (Harris County), we realize you are bordering cities and will assist with your inspections.  Your driver's license must reflect an address in Galveston, Brazoria County, and those cities mentioned above.  

If you reside in Harris County, Pasadena, or Houston, you must contact those agencies Task Force’ for assistance. 

Currently, our inspections are booked out for 6+ weeks.  We only do the inspections on Thursdays, by APPOINTMENT ONLY.  You must CALL 409-766-4500 to schedule an appointment.  We do not take walk in’s.  CALL for an appointment. 

In order to have a 68A inspection, we require a Bill of Sale for the item being inspected.  If you have an old title, we need that as well.

 If you are needing an inspection for an imported vehicle, we must have the completed paperwork (Customs paperwork and Bill of Sale) to include the Declaration page from Customs. 

We will only inspect vehicles that are “Road Ready”.  It can be trailered to our location, but the vehicle or item to be inspected MUST be ready to roll on the roadway.

If presenting a “homemade” trailer, receipts for the materials purchased and used to build the trailer are required. Also, photographs of the progress of the build are requested.

There is a $40.00 fee, payable by money order or credit card only, for the inspection.  If using a card, there is a $3.00 processing fee added to the cost of the inspection.  Absolutely NO CASH OR CHECKS are accepted. 

The item to be inspected MUST BE brought to our office at the time of your appointment.  If the vehicle, trailer, motorcycle etc is not brought in for the inspection, your appointment will be rescheduled (at this time we are booked out 6+ weeks).

Once the inspection is completed, YOUR 68A FORM IS ONLY GOOD FOR 30 DAYS.  It is important to complete your title, registration process within that time frame.
