An area-wide heat advisory continues today for expected heat index values above 108° and is already in place for Saturday as well. This marks the end of our brief "cooler" period, and high-end heat is expected to return to the area with the new week.
Like yesterday, conditions today are cooler in relative terms only. Despite the slight dip in the heat, we are still hot enough to require heat advisories across Southeast Texas, indicating that the expected heat index values today will be hot enough to be dangerous if precautions against heat illness are not taken. Conditions today are expected to be slightly hotter than yesterday, but not enough to prompt any excessive heat warnings - yet. A slow, upward trend in heat is forecast into the new week, and conditions similar to what we experienced earlier in the week are expected to return. This includes high temperatures around or above 100° and heat index values potentially exceeding 113°.
